If the turnout is lower on Sunday, can we propose a time trial type event finished by noon again? That was probably the best auto-x I've been to all year when we did that last time.

| Dinner plans have changed a bit, due to the weather and very likely a lack of having a place to heat stuff up... So, we're going all cold this year! Gourmet make-it-yo-dangself-massive sammiches, tater salad, slaw, chips, etc...
I'd rather be autocrossing...

How's the weather in MW? Pouring rain or just damp, trying to decide if I'm going tomorrow.

Thanks to all that came out and braved the rain this weekend!
Saturday's event started out reasonably dry for the daytime part
of the event, but changed over to mostly wet after dinner for the night
portion of the event. Due to the persistent rain, and the threat
of serious thundershowers, we did not run times, but instead did
fun runs in the day and night. We did set up the night course
after we had dinner (Hey, who didn't eat their cole slaw?!) inside
at the mineral wells airport terminal. The night course was
particularly challeging, with moderate rain throughout making
visibility further reduced. The course was fun, and the glow
sticks worked well enough that most drivers found it still best to
run with headlights off and parking lights or parking/fog lights on.
Against all odds on Sunday, we were able to get every driver three to four dry runs,
and a few runs in the wet as weather was changing... The fastest time
of the day was turned in by Michael Hollingsworth IN FULL RAIN
at the end of the event. Congratulations to Michael, outstanding job!

| Well, it was an interesting event. I didn't get in any dry runs, but it was a lot of fun, except for the last run, where there was a lot of water shedding on part of the course. Nathan suggested I run my R tires rather than my street tires. I thought it would be an interesting exercise, and if I had gotten a semi-dry run (we watched it start drying out at the start of the 2nd heat as we were working, then also watched it go away as the rain came back) they would have been by far the better choice. As it was I think it was probably a break-even between my runofhtemill street tires and my R tires. One thing's for sure, it was a lot of fun! Even more so for my friend Steve, who came out for his very first autox driving experience in his S2000. He had an absolute blast, and as a visiting Brit the weather felt just like home. We took it slow, but he reeled off gobs of time as he started learning what his car would do. It's always a satisfying feeling to have a newbie listen to instruction and have a great time. BTW, here's a video from Steve's first ever experience in a car driven in anger; taken at our August autox at TMS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNzzJ0P6x2g And the video from last Sunday's run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltLYLao6yN0 Have a good one, Mike
