The eigth autocross of the season is coming up this weekend on SUNDAY 10/25.

The location is the TMS bus lot.  I have ordered up ideal weather for the weekend after all the rain this week!   It's time to hear some tires squeal!

I'd like to attend, but have tickets for the Cowboy's game at 3 so I would need to leave after the first runs. I assume that's still OK as long as I work my shift on the corners.

Fun course yesterday.  The use of the loop really extended the track layout on the lot, which seemed to be more slick than in the past.  Cooler temps probably were the major contributor, but the afternoon runs had a decent amount of grip.  Of course, tires that are softer than a block of iron would probably help as well!

My last run was surprisingly faster than my previous runs.  I haven't downloaded my videos yet, but when I do I'm going to break runs 7 and 8 down and see what I did so much better (a 2 second improvement).  For anyone that's thought of videoing your runs, while they may be entertaining, they can also be a learning tool as well.

See y'all in 3 weeks!

I enjoyed the course, too.  It was a fun day.  I am glad that I chose this event over the competing SCCA autocross in Mineral Wells.

Here's the video from my best (8th) run:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfeQQGXPfT8

I picked up almost 2 seconds over my 7th run, which was quite surprising to me.  I spent some time last night comparing the 2 runs (my editing software has a frame counter), and found that I gained a half-second through the very first slalom *both* times through.  I picked up a little here, a little there, throughout the rest of the course, but it was surprising that I could pick up a half second through that little squiggle twice!

See y'all in 3 weeks!

wow that is a big improvement Mike... Were you more precise in the slalom or were you just pushing the car harder than you had gone previously?

I dunno, Mark.  I was definitely pushing as hard as I could, but I think that I finally got some grip into my dead rear V700s.  You know me and tires: 315 V700s in back, 2 year old 275 Hoosier A6s up front.  Even with the inner edge of one of the A6s corded they still had WAY more grip than my V700s.

I run that setup intentionally to let me get the car to rotate at TMS.  Out at MW I run a more balanced setup of RA-1s.  Of course, our last event this year is the swan song for the V700s.  I'm gonna run 'em til they die!!!

Have a good one,

Mike
