| Man, what a fantastic event today; y'all that didn't come out really missed a fun course. As the last event of the year, I decided to bring out my mostly dead rear tires and just have fun. The goal of the day was "Kill the dead tires". The course was based on the 3.1 mile layout at MSR, and was pretty fast and very technical. Thanks a TON to the autocross committee, not for this course but also for working everything out schedules, layouts, etc. Anyway, my rear tires died early on the 2nd run. The 3rd and 4th runs I kept trying to act like some kind of drift king; most corners I turned in, then centered the steering wheel and continued to rotate through the corner. Whee!!! Jim Harris had one comment for me after my first run: "Tires, Mike, Tires!" After I finished my fourth run I found a huge bald spot on the right rear, down to the fabric cords but not the steel belts. Mission accomplished. Since I had to drive home on them, I planned on just hanging out the rest of the day. However, Jim would have none of that. He offered to let me co-drive his RX-8 on V710s for my afternoon runs; what a blast! It was a great way to end the season. Thanks, Jim! I have to add my thanks as well. I've had a great year, and wanted to thank everyone for organizing nine great events!
Thanks go out to Mike Mccarty for offering his tire repair kit on Saturday. A very special thanks goes to Ken O for actually repairing my tire (roofing nail found in the tread), when I didn't know how to. If it wasn't for him, I would have never been able to compete!!
This year, there were great competitors in Y Class, including the formidable Mark Cameron in his very well sorted Miata CSP car. I believe we ended up dead tied for points, and he edged me out in overall time, so I have to congratulate him on his wins this year. He deserved everyone of them.
