HPDE Events for 2017

The Driving Events committee of the Lone Star Chapter of the BMW CCA would like to update you on the events we have planned for 2017 (above and beyond the already announced AutoX season).

The first planned track event for the year will be at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson Texas on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6. The Saturday schedule will be very similar to last year’s one day May event. Friday will be added to the schedule to accommodate another instance of the wildly popular BimmerWorld BMW CCA Club Racing school. We have another run group planned for the day but we will be limiting this to solo drivers only. The club race school is intended for upper intermediate and advanced drivers to put their toes in the water to see how racing really works. You do not have to have a fully prepped race car (but it is encouraged). You do not even have to want to go racing (but we feel after you do it – your attitude may change). Students interested in this program should email Bruce Heersink at spam@heersink.org (driving references will be checked). Price for this school will be $350 for the 2 days. The advanced group on Friday will get 2 hours of track time for $125. Pricing for the weekend will be announced on the event registration page which will be on motorsportreg.com in the near future.

The other 2 events will see a return to the Circuit of the Americas, but it will be different than the events we have run in the past. The Lone Star BMW CCA and Houston BMW CCA Chapters will join the Hill Country Porsche Club of America (PCA), Lone Star PCA, and the Maverick PCA to offer 2 events at the F1 track just outside Austin, Texas. The first event will be the Austin Spring Schnell Fest and will occur on May 19-21, 2017. The second event will be the Austin Fall Schnell Fest and will occur November 17-19, 2017. Further details and pricing will be available shortly. We expect registration for the May event to open around the middle of March. As we expect registration to fill quickly, please ensure that your CCA membership is up to date to avoid missing out on your spot. The May event will have the typical 4 student run groups (Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced). Further information will be announced once we have it. Registration will occur on clubregistration.net so if you don’t have an account there, you might want to create one sooner rather than later.

Also- our friends at PCA are having an Advanced Solo Driver Ed event at COTA the weekend of March 3-5, 2017 in conjunction with a club race there.  There are about a dozen open spots available for the D.E. for the advanced solo students. Please go to clubregistration.net for more info and to sign up.  The name of the event is “Carrera of the Americas Advanced Solo D.E.” Registration has already opened and the groups are filling fast.

Good morning.  Just wanted to send out some quick notes if you missed the monthly update last week.

The hotel will only hold this room rate until the 15th.  If you are even remotely interested, go ahead and sign up so you can get this rate.

When: Friday, March 3rd, 2017 to Sunday, March 5th, 2017
Where: Fredricksburg and the twisted sister roads
Departure point: Home Depot in Cleburne, 10am (trying to avoid rush hour Friday traffic)

We will be using the Sunday House Inn again this year for our hotel.  We have reserved 15 rooms (2 Queens or 1 King) at 124.95/night for the King and 129/night for the 2-Queens.  Rooms will remain available at this rate until February 15, 2017.  Please call Judy at 830-997-4484 to reserve your room.  Our rooms are reserved under the Lone Star BMW.  Last year we were able to get ahead of Spring Break and that is the current plan for this year.  We will probably still miss out on the Blue Bonnets but you never know with Texas.
