Overview

This page will contain the 2019 tour list and the maps we used for the tour group.  Road conditions may have changed or destinations may no longer be present (ie, restaurant has closed or changed hands).  Enjoy our past tours or look for some ideas for your future road travels.

1/1/2019: Hair of the Dog Driving Tour

Ringing in the New Year, we’ll head out for a morning enjoying some twisty roads. We’ll start out from the Shell station on the SE corner of I-35W and FM 917 (3313 I-35W, Burleson, TX 76028) and then enjoy some of the roads along the way to Glen Rose and then onward to either Cranfils Gap or Hico for lunch (still working on the New Year’s Day food option).

Edit: due to all the Tuesday-closed restaurants, we’ll make a figure 8 and return to Del Norte Tacos in Godley for lunch. Maps soon. Note the new start location (so we can be inside when it’s so cold)

3/1/2019 – 3/3/2019: Return to the Twisted Sisters

To change this up this year, we’re going to head a little further South away from Fredericksburg. This year, we’ll stay in Kerrville, TX. While our trip down to the hill country will still be too early for Blue Bonnets, we will still get to enjoy the twisty roads known as the twisted sisters (RR 337, 336, 335). Saturday night, we’ll look at options to head into San Antonio. Sunday, we’ll have an enjoyable return trip back to the DFW area. This out-of-town trip typically costs about $600 for budget purposes.
