Next weekend we have plans to visit 4 old Texas Forts along the Texas Forts Trail.  The route will take us from Weatherford up to Jacksboro, around the western edges and ends up South of Abilene at Perini Ranch.  The drive does not have a lunch stop but we will have enough time to “snack” along the way.  This will be an all-day event.  Here is a tentative schedule:

9:00a Start from Weatherford (~240 miles to Perini Ranch)
9:40a: Arrival at Fort Richardson (Jacksboro)
10:20a: Leave for Fort Belknap
11:00a: Arrival in Graham, TX for Gas stop (Allsup’s Convenience Store, 204 Elm St, Graham, TX 76450)
11:15a: Leave Graham, TX
11:25a: Arrive at Fort Belknap
12:00p: Leave for Fort Griffin
12:45p: Arrival at Fort Griffin (left-side has a nature reserve to avoid any Longhorn Cattle)
1:15p: Leave Fort Griffin toward Fort Phantom Hill
2:00p: Arrival at Fort Phantom Hill (small stop on left side)
2:30p: Leave Fort Phantom Hill
2:45p: Arrival in Abilene; stop for Gas (Allsup’s Convenience Store, 1741 TX-351, Abilene, TX 79601; on the left)
3:00p: Leave for Buffalo Gap/Perini Ranch
3:15p: Arrival at Perini Ranch
4:45p: Leave Perini Ranch (~200 miles back to DFW)
7:15p: Arriving back in DFW
