This High Performance Driving School will give you the opportunity to drive your car at speed and to experience the potential of the unique combination of car and driver. It is safe, demanding and most importantly FUN! All students will alternate between classroom sessions and time on the track with an instructor. The individualized instruction is a key to this program that has been developed over decades, and compares very favorably with commercial schools costing many times more. Our experienced instructors have come from racing, autocrossing and BMW CCA driving schools.

Lone Star Chapter’s BMWCCA Beginner/Intermediate AutoX School is Saturday, February 23rd at the Mineral Wells Airport.
This course is geared towards the Novice Autocrosser. Learning the proper techniques early will be of huge benefit, and will help students advance much quicker in the sport.
Registration will be limited tofifteen students. With a low Instructor-Student ratio, each student will have a lot of one on one instruction. Students will definitely learn a lot, and taking notes is highly encouraged.
The instructors will ride throughout the day with the students, encouraging proper techniques, and helping them improve their lap times.
The morning session will include proper seating position, hand position, acceleration/braking, and learning to navigate properly through an AutoX course. During the afternoon session, students will learn how to read a course quicker, helping lap times drop faster. Students will have many, many laps during the day, and improvements will be evident in their recorded lap times. Students will be a much faster driver after only one day of instruction!
BMW has also secured special hotel rates at the Days Inn and Suites. This is the newest, and nicest hotel in Mineral Wells. The nightly rate is $72.95, and sharing a room for $36.50 per person is very economical. Their number is (940) 468-2727, and be sure to mention Lone Star BMW when you register.
Please feel free to email me with any questions, and I have also included a small FAQ below.

Club Race School Feb 9 – 10
The Lone Star Chapter BMW CCA and BMW CCA Club Racing invite you to do a Bimmerworld BMW CCA Club Racing school at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas tentatively schedule with the TWS Performance Driving School on Feb 9-10, 2013. We hope to have all the details confirmed by Jan 13, 2013.
The BMW CCA Club Racing School is an intensive 2-day course designed to transition the intermediate-to-advanced high-performance driving school driver from high performance driving events to open lapping days and/or club level racing. It is also an excellent school for those students looking for a new experience and who are interested in developing their skills past what can be taught at a regular Driving Event.
The cost of the Club Racing School is TBD but expect it to be $400 or less.
The club race school focuses on situations inherent to racing and open track lapping as the majority of the on-track sessions will be held with other cars next to, in front of, and behind you at all times. This introduces the students to traffic, passing, and driving lines that they won’t get in the typical high performance driving school. Exercises include driving the entire track for multiple laps both two and three abreast to develop spatial awareness, setting up passes coming into corners at speed and passing while exiting corners which develop off-line competency and confidence, as well as practice race starts and open track sessions which combines all aspects of the learned material.
The method of track instruction is unique to the Club Race School in that instructors do not ride along with the students during the on-track sessions. The instructors, who are primarily composed of seasoned racers, observe the students while driving their own cars. This allows the instructor to develop a greater sense of how a student is improving with respect to spatial and situation awareness, different lines, and traffic.
The on-track sessions are supported by 4-5 hours of classroom time per day. While the classroom sessions will support the on-track experiences, topics such a car preparation, mental preparation, physical preparation, qualifying, the benefits of practice sessions, car setup, etc. are also presented to the students for discussion. The school is designed as a learning experience and not a speed contest. The emphasis is on driver development, so race-prepared cars are not required and neither are driving suits, racing seats or harnesses.
All cars must be inspected prior to the event. A driving school level helmet and a desire to learn and have fun are required.
Graduation from the BMW CCA Club Racing School does not automatically qualify you for a BMW CCA Club Racing license, but if you meet the experience and other requirements you will be eligible for a rookie license and the opportunity to join the ranks of BMW CCA Club Racing. Please note that acceptance to the club race school is at the discretion of the registrar and is not guaranteed.
