1/1/2016: Hair of the Dog New Year’s Drive
Taking after Houston’s Hair of the Dog tour, we’ll take a quick tour west of Fort Worth. The route is still being planned but we’ll start at Karen’s Starbucks (think coffee and potentially breakfast)
2/20/2016: Driving Tour from Cleburn to Let’s Eat/Overflow Restaurant in Bluffdale/Cresson/Granbury
Due to the overflow of people wanting to go on this Tour we were lucky that Let’s Eat increased our availabilty to 19. If you did not RSVP by 2/12 via email to Marc Leediker you are still welcome to join us on the driving tour, but the restaurant is full up.
Join the Lone Star Chapter for half-day driving tour and dinner starting 1:00 p.m. We have 19 seats available for the 6:00p.m. seating and you needed to RSVP to Marc Leediker by 2/12/2016 > (firstname.lastname@example.org) by email to let him know if you are attending. A 1pm departure time from our favorite Home Depot in Cleburne. Doing our normal circuitous driving stuff (with a few breaks) until 5:00pm when we would arrive at Let’s Eat, in Bluffdale, TX . For those that miss the 19 slots for dinner, we’ll have a drink at the Greenwood Salon prior to the sit down time. Join us for a good time one way or the other 🙂
3/4/2016-3/6/2016: Fredericksburg & Hill Country Annual Trip
On March 4 – 6, the Lone Star Chapter will host the annual Fredericksburg and Hill Country trip, led by Raymond Mimick. The trip will depart at 9:00 a.m. Rooms will be reserved for our group at Sunday House Inn. Please call Judy at 830-997-4484 to reserve your room. Our rooms are reserved under the Lone Star BMW CCA. Trip Itinerary: (Final routes and dining plans are still being determined.) Day 1 (Friday): Utilizing our past tour’s routes, we’ll have a quick trip down to Fredericksburg arriving about 3 p.m. Pit-stop schedules: Cleburne to Hico, Hico to lunch in Goldthwaite. Goldthwaite to Llano. Llano to Fredericksburg. Hotel Check-in, Wine Tasting tour. Dinner at our favorite German restaurant. Day 2 (Saturday): We’ll start at 8 a.m. Fast pace drive to Leakey and possibly out to Brackettville. We’ll return between 2 p.m – 3 p.m., depending on the distance. Saturday night: Dinner at Café at the Ridge in Kerrville, TX Day 3 (Sunday): Return trip to DFW around 10 a.m. Please let Ray ( email@example.com ) know when you make your reservations and we’ll get a list together for everyone.
3/26/2016: Easter Weekend 1/2 Day Tour to Cranfills Gap, Texas
On Saturday, March 26, the Lone Star Chapter will hold a half-day trip to Cranfills Gap, Texas for a visit to the Old Rock Church (St. Olaf’s Lutheran Rock Church). Built in 1886, it is a beautiful building which is very well preserved. To get there, the drive will begin in Cedar Hill (9am back parking lot of Cedar Hill Library at 225 Cedar Street, Cedar Hill, TX 75104) and pass through 150 miles of fantastic roads with lots of great vistas, panoramic countrysides, and twisty roads. The mid-point will be Glen Rose where the tour will take a quick break for gas. In addition to Glen Rose, the tour will pass through or near Cleburne State Park, Dinosaur Valley State Park, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and Iredell. Lunch will be at the Horny Toad Bar and Grill in Cranfills Gap (http://www.hornytoadbar.com/index.html). Brian George is organizing the routes but let Raymond Mimick know if you will join us on this trip.
4/16/2016: Choctaw Ranch House Tour
Afternoon drive ending with a great dinner (so we hope). We’ll start 3:30 PM at the RaceTrac in McKinney and tour the northern reaches and end up at Choctaw Ranch House (http://www.choctawranchhouse.com). We will have a 5:30 seating for dinner. Due to our size, we’ll have our own room but a limited menu. In order to plan the dinner reservation side, we definitely need to know if you are coming by emailing Brian George at firstname.lastname@example.org by April 11th. The drive will be 100 miles and take us about 1.5 hours to get through. Maps will be posted shortly.
Brian has stated the prices are a little high, so please check out the menu on the web site. When responding, please include if you will attend dinner with us or not.
4/23/2016: Muensterfest Tour
Our annual pilgrimage to Muenster, TX for GermanFest is coming up. This is a quick half-day drive out to Muenster, TX starting out of Sanger, TX. Brian George is leading the activities and he would love to know if you can join us by emailing him at email@example.com. We’ll start at 9:30 from Chisholm Trail Elementary School (just west of I-35). We’ll get there just in time for lunch.

We have an awesome route planned for the northern reaches of North Texas with a lunch stop at Choctaw Ranch House Preserve. We’ll be starting at A P Travel Center (13965 S Ih 35, Valley View, TX 76272) at 10:00a. We’ll have lunch around noon. For those still up for another hour of twisty roads, we have an hour post-lunch adventure that leads us back to McKinney and the RaceTrac off 380. 8/6/2016: Gimmick Rally!
Put this on your calendar. We’ll have another fun Gimmick Rally planned for August 6th. Don’t worry, it will be closer to 200 miles this year (last year was over 300). If you missed it last year, it was a blast trying to find these clues rolling down the road. Driver & Navigator required. If you are interested or only have half the equation (ie, only a Driver or only a Navigator), let us know so we might be able to pair people up. Brian George (firstname.lastname@example.org) is leading the charge on this one – he is the Rally Master.
8/21/2016: Palestine Sunday Run
We’re pulling out our Palestine run from last November and ready to try the full route in the light of summer. (Last November the sun went down too quickly on us). Brian George is organizing (email@example.com) and let him know if you can attend.
Our starting point will be the CVS in downtown Kaufman. The address is 102 East Mulberry Street, Kaufman, TX 75142. We will be finishing the drive in Athens Texas at the Jalapeno Tree Mexican Restaurant.
9/10/2016: Texas Forts Trail Tour
The club has an exciting full-day tour planned that will take us from a starting point West of the Metroplex to the famous Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap (Abilene). Along the way, the tour will wind through the scenic countryside stopping at 4 Texas forts. Get your driving shoes ready and join us for this full-day adventure. 10/16/2016: Tour to Edom Arts Fest and Galaxie Drive-in
We are making plans to drive a short tour out to Edom, TX, spend about an hour and a half looking at the art (http://visitedom.com/festival-of-the-arts/) and then travel towards Ferris, TX, enjoying some more roads along the way and then ending at the Galaxy Drive-In. Raymond Mimick (email@example.com) is organizing this and we’ll probably meet in the Walmart parking lot (220 US-175 Frontage Rd, Seagoville, TX 75159) in Seagoville about 2:00p and arrive in Edom around 3:00p. We’ll leave and head back toward Ferris, TX and stop at the Galaxy Drive-In. Show-times start about 7:30p and there are two shows for the price of one ticket. Tickets are $7.00/adult (http://www.galaxydriveintheatre.com/). If you can’t join us for the drive, would you join us for the drive in (please let Ray know in the event we advance purchase the tickets).
11/5/2016: Paris Driving Tour
We are planning on having a full day tour to Paris, Texas! We will leave from Greenville at 9:30 am and wind our way through Northeast Texas traversing through Sulpher Springs and ending up in Paris for a late lunch at Jaxx Gourmet Burgers. After lunch we will hit the road again and wind along the Red River ending in Denison, Texas. From there everyone can head back home down US 75 into the MetroPlex. The total tour length is approximately 260 miles. We will meet at 9:30 am at the QuikTrip gas station at 1400 East Joe Ramsey Boulevard, Greenville, TX 75402. Let Brian George (firstname.lastname@example.org) know if you will be attending so that we can look out for you.
12/10/2016: Annual Toy Run Drive
Join us for our annual Toy Run in Conjunction with Cars & Coffee Dallas. Please bring at least one unwrapped toy to donote to Cars & Coffee at Classic BMW in Plano. Then at 9:30a, we will meet at the SMU Campus in Plano at 5240 Tennyson Parkway, Plano, TX to begin our tour. The tour will travel to Sanger, TX where we will have lunch at Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. Brian George (email@example.com) is coordinating this tour. Please let him know if you will be attending.
