Overview

This page contains the 2023 tour list and the maps we used for the tour group.  Road conditions may have changed or destinations may no longer be present (ie, restaurant has closed or changed hands).  Enjoy our past tours or look for some ideas for your future road travels.

Sat, 12/31/2022: 2023 Preview Drive – in lieu of January 1st, 2023 being on a Sunday, we’ll run a day early and enjoy the empty roads and see what we can find. We’ll start early in the day (9:00a) and I believe we’ll do our route that starts in Joshua, TX at the Shell located with the Texas Best Smokehouse #2 (3313 S Burleson Blvd, Alvarado, TX 76009) and end in Godley, TX at Del Norte Tacos about lunch time. January 15th (Sunday) – Grapevine to Waxahachie & Rockett Café Tour: Join us for an afternoon trip through the center of the Metroplex, into the country side and then back toward civilization and ending in Rockett Café near Waxahachie.  We’ll start from the Texaco Gas station in Grapevine located at 1001 Northwest Hwy, Grapevine, TX 76051 at 2:00p.  We should arrive at Rockett about 5:00p.  RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday at 5:00p, January 13th, 2023 to let us know you are coming. February 17th – 19th (Friday-Sunday) Corpus Christi Trip Let’s take a trip down to Corpus Christi and visit the USS Lexington and explore Port Aransas and the local sites.  This is a trip we have not taken before.  We’ll plan a two-night stay in Corpus Christi at the Holiday Inn Corpus Christi Downtown Marina ($331.67 for a 2 Queen-bed room (tax included)) and then a return to DFW.  Please email tours@lscbmwcca.org for a reservation number that you will then use to add your name and credit card number to the group reservation.  7 rooms are available until February 10th. March 11th (Saturday)Steak Night @Kitchen’s in Mineola, Texas.  We’ll start at 2:00 p.m. and take a journey down to Mineola with plans to have dinner.  We’ll start at Buc-ee’s in Royce City at 2:00p.  Can you RSVP your intentions to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, March 10th at 5:00p so we can finalize reservations?  We should be back to Daylight Saving mode so we would not be driving in the dark. March 17th-19th (Friday-Sunday)Return to the Twisted Sisters.  We’re planning to head back down to the twisted sisters in the hill country.  This year, after lunch, we’ll head to Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Park for a visit and then maybe stop at Luckenbach.  We’ll be based out of Kerrville at the Inn of the Hills(830-895-5000 or https://res.windsurfercrs.com/ibe/details.aspx?propertyid=16590&nights=1&checkin=3/17/2023&group=2303LONEST&lang=en-us).  Room rates are $119 standard King and Queen, Queen room – single= $129 double, $139 triple, $149 quad per night and does not include taxes or breakfast ($11.95 additional at the time of reservation, $12.95 at check in).  Please make your reservations before March 10th, 2023.  Budget about $800 for the trip. April 8th (Saturday, Easter Weekend) Terrell to McKinney Tour– This year for Easter weekend, we’ll start at the Buc-ee’s in Terrell at 9:00a and head north, stopping in Greenville and ending in downtown McKinney around lunch.  If you are planning to join us, please email tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, April 7th. April 22nd (Saturday) Annual Ennis Blue Bonnet Tour starting at 10:00 a.m. meet in Palmer, Texas (1639 N I-45, Palmer, TX 75152).  We’ll enjoy a very low speed caravan around the Ennis, TX area to look at Bluebonnets.  J.O. May 20th (Saturday) Rough Creek Tour Dennis will take the group along a journey out toward Glen Rose and then stop at Rough Creek Lodge for lunch.  If you want to join us on this adventure, please RSVP to Dennis at dluczycki@gmail.com by Friday, May 19th. Maps

June 17th (Saturday) Hico Adventure Tour J.O. has a route ready to take us to Hico and the surrounding area.  Plan to join us for morning adventure and stop for lunch somewhere in the Southwest area of North Texas.  Please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org to join us by Friday, June 16th. Maps

June 24th (Saturday): Bridgeport Northwest OHV Offroad. Want to do a few easy off-road things with your X-vehicle (with X-drive) or just want to join a group to try the off-road adventure (ie, non-BMWs)? We’re planning a trip to the Bridgeport OHV Park 9:30a. Anyone is welcome to join but there are few things to note: 1. You will need to have an OHV (Off-Highway Vehicle) sticker ($20 at the gate or at a local power-sports dealer that sell ATVs), 2. You must pre-purchase a reservation from the City of Bridgeport at https://bridgeport.recdesk.com/Community/Page?pageId=19662 – $25.00 for a vehicle, $15 for an ATV or a Bike. 3. We will only do a green (or single diamond) route as most of our vehicles are not ready for any of the more difficult terrain. July 15th (Saturday) Caddo Lake Tour – Let’s make a plan for an all-day trip out to Caddo Lake (on the border with Louisiana).  We’ll start at the Buc-ee’s in Terrell, make a stop at BMW of Tyler, then keep traveling East the rest of the way to Caddo Lake for lunch.  For those unfamiliar with the area, it is about 3 hours direct-route to Caddo Lake if you have to exit early.  If you plan to join us, please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, July 14th. July 30th (Sunday) Sunday Afternoon Drive– Let’s start at the historic General Store in Pilot Point – Martin General Store (101 S Jefferson St, Pilot Point, TX 76258) at 2:00p and then take a leisurely drive West and end of up at Marty B’s (2664 FM 407, Bartonville, TX 76226) around 5:00p.  If you plan to join us, please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, July 28th. August 12th (Saturday) FM4 Adventure Tour– We’re planning to return for another adventure on FM 4 – this time starting from Mansfield and working our way to Grandview for the start and ending in Jacksboro (with a trip back to Weatherford).  This will be pretty an all-day journey but there will be plenty of places to exit and return home if you need to.  There will be a lunch stop along the way.  If you plan to join us, please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, August 11th. August 20th (Sunday) McKinney Loop – we’ll take an afternoon loop around the McKinney area starting from the RaceTrac in McKinney off US-380 (1004 E University Dr, McKinney, TX 75069) and ending back at Hutchins BBQ or downtown McKinney for something for dinner.  If you plan to join us, please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, August 19th. September 2nd (Saturday)Gimmick Rally 2023 – we’ll bring back the Gimmick rally on Labor Day weekend this year.  We’ll look north easterly for our route and end in Sherman.  A Gimmick Rally is a no-pressure treasure hunt where you are looking for a fill-in-the-blank clue found along the road ways or outside of your vehicle.  This event requires at least two people to participate.  If you’d like to participate, please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Wednesday, August 30th so we can print up the right number of packets. September 23rd (Saturday): German Food Destination Tour
Let’s take a morning trip around the Meridian, TX area and potentially stop at Zur Autobahnand end in Grandbury and try for Ketzler’s Schnitzel Haus and Biergarten in Granbury for lunch.  Because the restaurant has changed, the route has changed, please RSVP if you plan to join us:  tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, September 22nd. October 22nd – 24th (Sunday-Tuesday) Eurkea Springs Tour: We’re making plans to return to Eureka Springs, Arkansas hopefully for some fall colors.  If you’ll note, the days we are looking at will be outside of the high-volume time so we should be able to enjoy places like the Pig Trail and Boston Mountain with ease.  We’ll look into staying at the Best Western (101 East Van Buren St) as they have accommodated us well in the past.  More details to come. November 11th (Saturday) Veteran’s Day Tour, let’s watch the Grapevine Veteran’s Day parade (10:00a in Historic Downtown Grapevine) – let’s park at First United Methodist Church of Grapevine (422 S Church St, Grapevine, TX 76051), walk over and see and watch the parade and then plan to meet to leave at 11:00a.  From there, we’ll head north toward Denton and end at Fortunata Winery in Aubrey, TX (just slightly East of Denton – https://www.fortunatawinery.com/).  Let’s plan to arrive by 2:00p and enjoy some food and fellowship (join us directly at the Winery if you’d like).  Please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, November 10th. December 13th (Wednesday), 6:30p Christmas Event.  We’ll plan to meet up and see something Christmas-y – could be the Gaylord Texan, Christmas Lights at the Speedway, the Polar Express in Grapevine or something else entirely. 

December 16th (Saturday) For our Last Tour of the Year, let’s head down to Seagoville (9:00a at Shell located at 600 E Malloy Bridge Rd, Seagoville, TX 75159) for a morning adventure that will end at Craft 64 Burgers & Sports (I-20 and TX-64 – 30176 State Hwy 64 #100, Canton, TX 75103) around lunch time.  If you plan to join us, please RSVP to tours@lscbmwcca.org by Friday, December 15th.
